We have had the pleasure of living, eating , and working all over the world. We love people and enjoy food as a means of getting to know people and cultures.
I have also taken up cooking for fun and sustenance. Several years ago I became a widower and never having done any cooking I was telling my older brother that I was going to go to culinary school to learn how to cook. He laughed and said "Michael you are an engineer. Get recipes, read them, and follow the directions. You can do this!"
So I did. Learning to cook has really helped me enjoy food more and enhanced my "palate".
My new wife, Leslie, is also a foodie and joins me in the endeavor.
So begins our adventures in eating and making suggestions to friends on our restaurant experiences. We hope you enjoy and let us know what you think.
The Spirit of this Adventure
Basically what we have found is that one visit to a restaurant is not enough to make much of a comment about their quality. Anybody can have a bad day or a good day so we don't want to comment until we learn more. Two great encounters is worth congratulations. One good and one bad is worth thinking about. Two bad in a row is probably not worth trying a third time.
We live near Wilmington North Carolina, so that is where we will focus. We will comment occasionally on other cities we travel to in the future and sadly we may compromise our two visit rule if it doesn't look like we will get a chance to repeat in a reasonable time. Hopefully not too often.
So that's what this is all about. Let's get started.
