A beautiful May evening and off to the the River walk area of downtown Wilmington again.  We visited the Floriana restaurant twice, both were very nice. First time was a family dinner during the holidays, the second with neighborhood friends. OKAY Our absolute favorite restaurant in North Carolina…. drum roll… Stanbury in Raleigh!!! Yes we drive two hours to enjoy this special place for our tastes! Small.. rustic.. cool vibe and opens at 5pm when there is typically 45 minutes to an hour wait and no reservations. But drinks and outdoor seating while you wait.

Local Irish Pub to us in Leland the Joyce is a preferred choice for a quick lunch. The Ruben is very good and my favorite. Leslie goes for the Spinach salad. We’ve also tried the Fish and Chips and were pleased. Not over breaded and the fires nicely done. Good wines and beer and food

Both visits to Marina grille were by water! Nice docking setup and easy in and out. Tried appetizers the first time and were okay. The Calamari was average but the She Crab soup was really tasty. Jalapeno Hush Puppies were not too greasy and nice spicy flavor but not overly hot. Second visit was lunch

Ah yes…. the Vine on 23rd Street. First time there for the half price tapas menu on Thursdays we absolutely flipped for the bacon Pops!!! So much so that we each ordered a second round!! Well, we’ve been to Cape Fear Seafood company in Waterford Plaza several times since we moved here to Leland NC. We have always enjoyed it. As the name implies this is a wine forward establishment. Lots of options and flights to try. No faults on the wine selection and tastings. The long list of “bites” proved interesting and with a flight you also got a “bite”. The Focaccia bread was good on all visits and we tried chicken liver Mousse
