The Pilot House

A beautiful May evening and off to the the River walk area of downtown Wilmington again. This time a second visit to The Pilot House a classic tourist and local spot with an awesome outdoor area for sunset and water views. Obviously we’ve been here before and not super impressed. Once again the second time, as we’ve learned, can be much better. The ladies enjoyed Cucumber Cosmos which they both thought were better than average and the wine with dinner was very good. I had a very well executed Arnold Palmer!! We tried the spring rolls this time which were crispy, well filled, with a good dipping sauce. This was followed by a really tasty Brie and spinach dip with Pita bites. Entree to split three ways was the fried seafood platter with shrimp, flounder, and oysters. The platter was just okay. It was large but nothing to write home about. Another entree split three ways was the Lamb chop Lollie pops. These were excellent, with a great sauce and lots of chops!! We would get that one again for sure. Finally the Key Lime pie capped off with fresh coffee ended a sunset on the river night as a highlight!! Not sure how hot it will be in the summer time here but spring and fall with the outdoor seating is a definite go to spot.
